Virtual Makeup – Blush

This tutorial will teach you how you can easily apply blush to any face. Go ahead, get ready.. fireup Photoshop and open the picture you want to apply blush to. For this tutorial, you can use the below picture.
Step 1: First thing you want to do is create a new empty layer from the layers menu.

Step 2: Now, from the Tools menu, change the foreground color to a color you would like to apply as the blush. For this tutorial, I have selected the color #f0297e. Keep in mind
that this new color will smoothly blend in with the face therefore the color you select will be creating an unique blend so there will be variation of shade.
Through some experiment with different shade of colors, you will achieve to your desire shade.

Step 3: Select the brush tool from the Tools menu.

Step 4: Right click over your image and a popup dialogue will appear that look like this:
From this dialogue menu, scroll half way through and select a brush size from the Soft Mechanical portion (bottom half of the list). I have selected the size 60 pixel so I can cover the cheeks faster. Now,
go ahead and carefully paint only over the cheeks, if you are using the image above, then I suggest a simple one click will do the job well, if your picture is somewhat large or very high resolution image, consider using higher brush size and clicking over the cheeks
more than once to cover properly. Its okay if it gets a bit messy! We’ll clean all that excess amount later. Here is how mine looks like:

Step 5: Now from your layers menu, change the blending mode to “Darken”. It depends mostly on what color you choose during step 2 but mostly “Darken” works the best. If “Darken” does not work well, then you may
select another blending mode and play around with opacity until your desired level of contrast is gained. Now set the opacity level to 20%, if you are using the above picture and color, this setting works best and gives the natural look.
Once “Darken” with 20% opcacity, here is how it should look:

Step 6: If you do not like how it looks or if you have excess color that leaked outside of the cheeks, then you can use the eraser tool to erase the excess but make sure you use the Soft Mechanical with large pixel size
around 40px or more and carefully start from furthest and work your way to closer areas
